Hi Brenda,
Have you tried pressing Alt + F9 to toggle the field codes to see if
there are several fields accidentally inserted into one field?

Word 97, using a locked template with text fields and spell checking
macroWhen document is opened the message in the subject line keeps
appearing anduser cannot make modifications to the document. First appeared
after usereither ran the spell check macro or attempted to manually make a

Have tried inserting document into a clean document, Opening

copy, and Recover Text from Document. Recover text converts to RTF
andresults are not acceptable. Other options are unsuccessful at
allowingmodification. Any other ideas on how we can eliminate this error
